Second-Order MaxEnt Predictive Modelling Methodology. I: Deterministically Incorporated Computational Model (2nd-BERRU-PMD)

چکیده

This work presents a comprehensive second-order predictive modeling (PM) methodology designated by the acronym 2nd-BERRU-PMD. The attribute “2nd” indicates that this incorporates uncertainties (means and covariances) sensitivities of computed model responses to parameters. BERRU stands for “Best- Estimate Results with Reduced Uncertainties” last letter (“D”) in “deterministic,” referring deterministic inclusion computational responses. 2nd-BERRU-PMD is fundamentally based on maximum entropy (MaxEnt) principle. principle contradistinction fundamental underlies extant data assimilation and/or adjustment procedures which minimize least-square sense subjective user-defined functional meant represent discrepancies between measured It shown generalizes extends current while overcoming limitations these procedures. In accompanying (Part II), alternative framework developing “second- order MaxEnt modelling methodology” presented incorporating probabilistically (as opposed “deterministically”)

A Computational Model of Second-Order Social Reasoning

This paper presents the first computational cognitive model of second-order social reasoning. The model uses a decision tree strategy to reason about the opponent’s behavior. We hypothesize that a decision tree strategy requires (1) declarative memory, and (2) working memory. Declarative memory is required to retrieve successive reasoning steps, while working memory is required to temporarily s...

Modelling Second-Order Volumetric Features

Model creation using SMS's volumetric primitives revealed that many models lacked the highly salient visual details representable using the surface and space curve primitives, although the first-order mass distribution of the features was well characterized. This paper introduces eight second-order volumetric features that add detail to models, as might be required in a recognition scheme that ...

Towards a Second Order Research Methodology

This paper addresses the need for re-examining the cognitive perspective on the role of language in social research. From the autopoietic perspective, language is not a tool to reveal an objective world; rather language is a venue for action, coupling the cognitive domains of two or more agents. Responsible research enquiry would seek to create systemic communication practices that allow the co...

A Second Order Stochastic Network Equilibrium Model, I: Theoretical Foundation

Existing models of stochastic network equilibrium route choice in transport networks are able to represent exogenously-specified variations in drivers’ actual or perceived travel costs, but assume throughout that flows are deterministic. In this paper, a new notion of equilibrium is presented based on stochastic flow variables, in which the impact of variable flows on the variability in travel ...

2nd-order Symmetric Lorentzian Manifolds I: Characterization and General Results

The n-dimensional Lorentzian manifolds with vanishing second covariant derivative of the Riemann tensor — 2–symmetric spacetimes— are characterized and classified. The main result is that either they are locally symmetric or they have a co-variantly constant null vector field, in this case defining a subfamily of Brinkmann's class in n dimensions. Related issues and applications are considered,...
